I had posterior fistula in ano which got operated on last tuesday through laser treatment. It has been 8 days since surgery. Now, since last 5 days, I have been experiencing some kind of thick yellowish white fluid inside the operative area. I thought it as pus. One doctor after seeing the picture, he told me that it's pus. Some another doctor told me that it's plasma mixed with motion or a fluid while wound is healing. I am worried that what it is actually. It generally stays there and comes out while gas passing or sneezing. The fluid doesn't have any bad smell. Please let me know that is it normal to have and will subside of it's own through dressing and sits bath? I am currently taking lizoforce 600 bd (prescribed for 5 days) and a pain killer.

Yellowish discharge after filac is very common as the tissue burnt by laser starts sloughing and comes out along with fluid. You should just take care it dsnt get infected and the area remains clean. So do daily dressings as might be taught by your operating surgeon and continue antibiotics for some more time. If the discharge continues beyond two weeks of surgery, then consult your surgeon again. Regards.
